Body Doubling, Explained

Your questions, answered

Body doubling is when another person is present — physically or virtually — while you work on a task. Their presence provides a gentle anchor that helps your brain stay regulated and on task. It's one of the most effective and underused tools for people with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence.

For many neurodivergent people, the ADHD brain struggles to activate and sustain focus without external cues. Another person's calm, focused presence acts as a social cue that signals "this is a time to work." It reduces the feeling of isolation, lowers anxiety, and makes starting — often the hardest part — feel much more possible.

Not necessarily. Sometimes just having someone present is enough. Other times it helps to have someone you can think out loud with, ask a quick question, or check in with after completing a chunk of work. We'll figure out what works best for you — some sessions are mostly silent, others are more collaborative.

Almost anything you've been putting off or struggling to start: clearing your inbox, paying bills, filling out forms, organizing a space, writing, studying, making phone calls, going through your closet, working on a project — if you've been avoiding it, body doubling can help you finally do it.

Yes — virtual body doubling is just as effective for most people. We connect over video, you work on your task, and I'm there with you. Some people prefer the camera on, others work with it off but keep audio open. We'll find the format that helps you focus best.

Closet Body Doubling is a signature in-person session where we go through your wardrobe together. We sort every item — keep, donate, or sell — based on your personal style, how it fits your body, and what actually makes you feel good. Many people find closet decluttering paralysing alone. Having someone calm, non-judgmental, and focused alongside you makes it not only doable, but often surprisingly enjoyable.

Nope — it's helpful for anyone who struggles with focus, motivation, or task initiation. While it's especially well-researched for ADHD, people with anxiety, autism, depression, or even just a particularly overwhelming week find body doubling incredibly useful.

Someone who's lived it

I'm Kristina — a certified happiness coach who specializes in working with people who are wired differently. I know this world from the inside, because I'm neurodivergent myself.

For years I struggled with the same things my clients describe: the overwhelm, the shame spiral, the feeling that everyone else had somehow gotten a manual I never received. What changed everything for me wasn't a productivity system or a diagnosis — it was learning to approach my ADHD through the lens of happiness coaching. Understanding what actually brings me joy, energy, and peace, and building my life around that instead of fighting my own brain.

That shift allowed me to completely reinvent my life. After a decade as a leader at Amazon launching new businesses, I left corporate life, found true peace and joy, and built a thriving resale clothing marketplace from scratch. None of that would have been possible without learning to work with my brain instead of against it.

Now I help others do the same. I work with clients virtually anywhere, and in person throughout the greater Seattle area.
